I am a multidisciplinary artist focusing on creating immersive, research-led artwork that explores themes of identity, heritage, and the African diaspora. My work draws inspiration from personal experiences, historical narratives, and cultural traditions to create rich, sensory environments that engage viewers emotionally and intellectually. With a background in fine art, textiles, and digital media, I enjoy experimenting with various materials, techniques, and technologies to push the boundaries of my artistic practice and continuously evolve my creative approach. As a firm believer in the power of art as a tool for communication and social change, my passion lies in using my work to foster understanding, spark dialogue, and inspire positive action in the world.
I currently live in Plymouth with my cat and enjoy working in my studio space, gardening in my allotment (where I grow natural dyes) and continuing to develop and refine my artistic practice. In addition to creating my own artwork, I also collaborate with other artists and participate in community art projects, exhibitions, and workshops.
My creative process typically begins with extensive research, exploring historical archives, literature, and personal stories related to my chosen theme. This research informs the conceptual development of my work and guides my selection of materials, techniques, and visual elements.
